Breaking Legal News---Emergency Order #12 "Safer at Home" Issued for Wisconsin, effective at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 through April 24, 2020. Lawyers and law firms like Burton Law LLC are allowed to remain open as an Essential Business Operation under Section 13(u) of the Emergency Order #12.
However, the Order states "All businesses, including Essential Businesses and Operations, shall, to the greatest extent possible, use technology to avoid meeting in person, including virtual meetings, teleconference, and remote work (i.e., work from home)."
Consistent with this directive, and to aid in keeping everyone in our community safe, Burton Law LLC will conduct all meetings, until further notice via live virtual video conference or teleconference, unless a live in-person meeting is determined as essential for the health, safety, or welfare of a client for the limited purpose of executing a legal document with witnesses, or a Notary. In such situations, Burton Law LLC will seek to offer a "Drive By" signing option where the person remains in their car while maintaining the 6-foot social distancing rule contained in this order. Such situations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the office by email if you are in such a situation and would like to discuss the details.
Burton Law LLC has been anticipating this order for several weeks, and in fact, we have been preparing for years for such a situation. We remain fully operational to serve your legal needs throughout this time.
